iMessages going to Mac

For the second time in two weeks I had an iMessage go to my Mac and not to my iPhone. After the first time that happened, I signed out of Messages on the Mac. When I opened my Mac today I saw I had a message from hubs that didn't going to my phone. I was signed into iCloud in messages on Mac again but didn't do that. I signed out again and hope it doesn't happen again. I hate to think that I may miss messages unless I constantly check my Mac.

This has never happened with previous MacOS versions; I'm currently on Ventura 13.2

Any thoughts as to why this is happing?
