dismissing notifications globally

All the notifications I get to my iPhone (reminders, chess games, wallet purchases, etc.) also get mirrored to my Mac. That's fine, I like that. No problem there.

Now, lets say I dismiss all the notifications on my Mac, because I've dealt with them. When I go pick up my phone to leave the house, there they all are again, waiting, and I have to dismiss them again. I don't need to see them anymore. I don't want to have to dismiss everything twice. Isn't there some way to dismiss them everywhere? I thought Apple was into syncing across devices.

Notifications are specific to the device, so you need to delete them on each device. To delete all notifications on an iPhone in one fell swoop hold your finger on any “x” on the Notifications screen, then tap Clear All Notifications.

It works this way because you don’t necessarily have the same notifications enabled on each device (I don’t, for example)
