reverse image search through my own photos

How do I perform a "reverse image search" of MY OWN photo library, that is: search MY photos—NOT the internet—for similar photos. Frustratingly, no matter how I frame my inquiry online, I just get countless articles on how to use your iPhone’s photo library to reverse search photos on the internet. (Yes, thanks anyway, we know this.)

Good afternoon dirkfromdallas,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

It sounds like you are looking for ways to search for similar images in your Photos library instead of the Internet and we'd like to help.

The App Store may have apps that can perform a reverse image search on your device.

The resource below explains the various ways to search in the Photos app on your iPhone:

Search for photos on iPhone - iPhone User Guide

You can create albums to organize similar photos that you find using one or more keywords:

  • Date
  • Place
  • Business names
  • Category
  • Events
  • People
  • Caption

"See photo and video information

To see saved metadata information about a photo or video, open it, then tap the Info button or swipe up. Depending on the photo or video, you see the following details:

  • People identified in the photo
  • A caption field to describe the photo or video, and make it easier to find in Search
  • Items detected by Visual Lookup
  • Whether the photo was shared with you in Messages, another app, or iCloud Shared Photo Library
  • The date and time the photo or video was taken; tap Adjust to edit the date and time
  • Camera metadata such as lens, shutter speed, file size, and more
  • Where the photo or video was taken; tap the link to view the location in Maps; tap Adjust to edit the location"

Take care.
