Suppose there is no cell phone capable to getting a text? Then can I make the it so I have the option to either get the 2-factor 'key' by text or by Email.
Good question.
First … you don’t normally receive the 2FA code message by “text” but rather by “data.”
It seems a minor nuance, but it means that you CAN receive the messages via WiFi in an area where there is no “cell” coverage.
Next … ANY of your devices can generate the code even if they are COMPLETELY off-network. (For example, to allow you to log-in to your iCloud from an untrusted “Ethernet-Only” computer)
On your iPhone it’s in Settings -> AppleID (Name) -> Password & Security -> Get Verification Code.
iPads and Macs have a similar mechanism.
Lastly, while you can’t receive the codes via e-mail directly from Apple, you CAN receive them via SMS or “automated voice” call to ANY phone number you have pre-configured as your “trusted number(s)”
