Opening .ics file on iPad

Trying to open a downloaded .ics file with a meeting with the purpose to add the event to my calendar: 30’ and still didn’t find a solution!

Any ideas how to do this??

.ics file can’t import to Calendar When downloading and opening an .ics file, it shows the event information. However, there is no option to add or import to my calendar. This is on the iPhone 15 and updated iOS as of 1/1/2025. The only workaround I have found is adding it to my Gmail or Outlook calendars. Since I have those setup to also appear in the Calendar app, it shows up as events from those calendars. Seeing the repeated unresolved issues related to this with Apple, I’d say it’s a deficiency in programming with iOS or the Calendar app. Google and Microsoft seem to have this figured out. I will continue adding the .ics file to those other vendor calendars to show up on my phone, but do suggest Apple update this in a future Calendar app version. Thank you!

How can I import a .ics file into Calendar? I use Gmail as my email and Ive been sent an .ics file with calendar details, but I dont have an option to import it to my calendar? Im running iOS 18.3.1 on my phone and I've downloaded the file, so I can open it in the files app. There is no option to open in calendar thought? When I try and create a new event in my calendar, there is no option to import. When i use multiple fingers to drag it into the calendar app, i get a 'plus' option to add it, but nothing happens? Any suggestions on how to use this file to create an event? [Re-Titled by Moderator]

.ics files unable to be previewed Hello. I have the latest iOS update, and every time I attempt to open an .ics calendar invite, it states “Oops! Unable to preview event. Please try again later.” How can I open it in the calendar app if it won’t allow me to preview it?? Thanks!

The native Calendar App is ics-file compliant. If correctly formatted, a downloaded .ics-file should simply open in Calendar.
