Add widget to iOS 16 Lock Screen without changing wallpaper

How do I add a widget to iOS 16 Lock Screen without changing wallpaper? Apple site says “Press on Lock Screen, then tap Continue, then tap above or below Time on Lock Screen”. However, tapping near Time simply cancels the setup and leaves you at lock screen.

Try this:

  1. Hold down on Lock Screen until it backs away; you’ll see what I mean.
  2. Swipe left to select previous wallpapers or right to make a new one.
  3. Once the wallpaper you want is in center of screen tap “Customize”. Your Lock Screen and Home Screen will appear side by side and labeled.
  4. Tap the Lock Screen and you will see two boxes above and below the Time.
  5. Click the boxes and select the Widgets you prefer. When you’re done click “Done”.

Hopefully you found this helpful.

Good luck!
