One phone number - two iPhones

My provider offers up to 10 free SIM cards per contract which can be used simultaneously to share my data plan and calls + SMS. They all share one single phone number.

Right now I have 2 such SIM cards which share a phone number: the eSIM on my 11 Pro Max, and the physical SIM in my old iPhone 6s (both signed in to the same Apple ID).

It works. I can use all functions but I have one huge issue: iMessage and FaceTime keep signing out and signing back in regularly across all my Apple devices. It occurs randomly and I just get the “Use this number with FaceTime & iMessage” popup which I have to confirm multiple times on each device that I own. If I take out the SIM on the 6s, it all works fine.

It’s very annoying and I’m guessing it’s because both iPhones are “fighting” over the phone number. Is there any solution to this?

Hello xpxkm,

That would likely be due to using different SIM cards and different devices, sharing a single phone number. We suggest reaching out to your wireless carrier to determine the best resolution for this. Perhaps they can set up an additional number for one of your devices.

In the meantime, these articles discuss the issues going on:
