new random ba doom sound since update

someone else mentioned this before and got no real answer and i can’t reply to the thread to further the investigation. i’m going to copy paste what they said because they explained it best. this is happening on my iphone 12pro and my partners iphone 13 as well. it seems to have started with the newest os, 16. i can’t find it being addressed anywhere else.

“iPhone 12 Pro Max. Makes random “ba-dum” sound not linked to any app or notification. Can’t seem to figure out why and it’s creeping me out. Can’t find any sound in the system that would match this. Plays the sound even when phone is silenced.” it happens at all hours, sometimes when i’m using it. it just happens as i closed the messaging app. it sometimes happens in the middle of reading a webpage. it happens on Facebook, email, everywhere. there is no rhyme or reason. i have no other bluetooth devices connected right now when it happened last, but it has occurred while i have my airpods in. i’ve updated our phones, we’re now running ios 16.3 and i have hard reset both as well. still happens. please help! it’s driving us nuts!

What iOS version did you update last? Simply saying "newest update" leaves a lot of doubt in my mind.

Many users who have updated to iOS 16 and above must have a similar issue if the issues stated by you are due to the iOS.

Unless you state what the issue is many in this forum may not be able to respond positively to the issue you are facing.

With the limited information that you have provided, It is hard to even guess the problems faced by you.

I’ve had the same issue. It was happening before, so I did a hard reset on my phone and I thought it went away. This morning I was in the middle of sending a text and it made that sound, and my screen went completely black like my phone was off. No button I pressed worked until my phone eventually just decided to start working again. I hope we’re talking about the same sound though, it reminds me of a sound you’d hear when you connect a Bluetooth speaker to your phone.

i’ve been told to look out for that. i still have not gotten an answer and it still does it. i have to upgrade my device soon anyway, im hoping that will clear it up. no one else i know has any idea other than some sort of spyware. :(

jm_45 the sound i get is like a windows error almost, like a bah-doomp sound. it never makes the sound when i want it to, very randomly. my phone won’t be doing anything that goes along with the sound. i’ve hard reset already many times and it doesn’t go away.

I have a regular 11 and since the update it happens randomly when I pick up/put down my phone!

Yep! Super random. Super creepy. My 12Pro just went ba-Dum, randomly. It’s unlike any notification I’ve heard on my phone. And mostly I’m set up not to receive notifications.
