Auto wake function not faulty?

Hi guys, I have a ESR protector case on my Ipad Pro and just a few minutes ago I noticed that when I flipped the lid up, which normally wakes the Ipad, the screen stayed black and was unresponsive to touch.

I then didn’t press the power button, I just laid the lid back down and opened it again and it worked again as per normal. The iOS is up to date and the option lock/unlock is toggled on.

I have only had the ipad for two weeks and has never behaved this way. Do I need to be concerned about it? Has this happen to anyone? If so, is anyone able to hypothesise what might have happened?

Speaking of personal experience, yes, I have encountered the behaviour that you describe on rare occasion - on multiple iPads of various models.

Given the rarity of occurrence, that cannot be reliably replicated, a definitive cause has not been identified. Unless occurrence becomes regular or problematic, you have no reason to be concerned.

Computers and software are fickle. A perfect computer program has never been written. Even Nasa produce imperfect code. The specific conditions and sequence of events needed to tigger the bug are likely so convoluted that systematic testing will never find it.

It’s a non-issue. If and when experienced, it may never occur again.

Thank you :) have you ever wondered what could have caused it? A glitch with the sensors? I’m just worried it will happen again or that I own a defective product (given the cost of the device), as I cannot see any thread talking about this issue.
