Why does the Apple alarm app not have a Dismiss/Cancel feature like everyone's asking for?

I've used numerous alarm apps and never, until using IOS, has an app lacked a Dismiss/Cancel feature so we can cancel an alarm w/o having to let it fire before turning it off.

Oh wait...you guys ARE aware that people DO wake up before alarms go off? And that we really DON'T want our alarm to wake up our spouse at 5am needlessly?

Wow, guys, please get unstuck from the 70's, ok?
