iPhone 13's Not Receiving Phone Calls

Related to an earlier similar question, my wife and I have matching iPhone 13's, and mine suddenly will receive no phone calls. None. About 6 months old. My wife's also, but about half the time. The calls all go to voice mail. All of the suggestions from Apple Help and Google have been done, even went to AT&T and had them refresh the internal SIM system (13's do not have actual cards), did nothing. They then put in an actual SIM card, did nothing. All other features work; texting, calling out (does not show caller ID), all of the Apps.........

Apple Help did a remote assessment on my phone, said it was perfect.

These are our families fourth iPhones, three of us, and we have never before experienced this. Something is wrong.

Help.

OK, I have news. A solution has been found, so sharing. In case this happened to anyone else. It wasn’t the phone!

I went through two levels of Apple Help (online chat and Genius visit). Each checked my phone in depth, and reported it very healthy. I went to an AT&T store, they tried different SIM adjustments and even a real SIM card. No luck.

The solution came from calling the AT&T help line and discussing this issue with a very knowledgable tech. She nailed the fix in under five minutes.

I had deleted the AT&T protection App “Active Armor” as a guess on a fix, in case it was over-active. Turns out that even though the App was gone, it was still causing this problem.

In my AT&T account on their end the settings for the App were still present. I had not allowed my Contact access to the security App, and then enabled “Block unknown Callers”. So it was still doing that to my account without the App being on my phone, preventing me from receiving any calls.

Smart of me, huh?

So, be careful of how you use and set up any security App. They could really screw things up. I know this now.

Check your iPhone settings

Go to Settings and turn on Airplane Mode, wait five seconds, then turn it off. Check Do Not Disturb. Go to Settings > Focus > Do Not Disturb and make sure it's turned off. Check for any blocked phone numbers.
