Error Code -36
I am copying files from HD to thumb drive and get a message that it cannot be copied due to error code -36. It is a photoshop .psd file and is large. How can I get it to the thumb drive?

First please review Connect and use other storage devices with Mac - Apple Support.
How is that device formatted? What is its capacity? To find out, select the thumb drive in the Finder, then use the Finder's File menu > Get Info. Its Format and Capacity will appear.

Thumb drive works well with the other files, just not this big .psd. And it is a 64Gb drive, so it has plenty of room. I found a work-around. I just opened the file in Photoshop and then saved it to the thumb drive as a new file. Worked fine. Thank you.

As for the -36 error code, its meaning is not publicly documented but it is accepted to mean some file data could not be either read or written. Doesn't really matter which; the Finder simply couldn't cope with it.
