Screenshare grayed out

Every time I start a FaceTime the screenshare button is grayed out. But when the same person starts the FaceTime, the button isn’t grayed out and I can screenshare. My settings are turned on to enable screen share. I’ve restarted my phone, turned the settings off and on again, and even turned the ability to FaceTime on and off again. Nothing has solved my issue and it’s incredibly annoying.
