whatsapp sounds

bought my first iPhone in 13 years thinking some of the simplest things that you could not do over a decade ago would be fixed. How wrong I was.

Why on earth can you not set your own notification and ringtones in whatsapp?

Why is it so ridiculously complicated to copy your own ringtones over to the iphone? Using itunes or Music is still amazingly frustrating and overly complicated :-(

Custom text alert tones can no longer be assigned under iOS 17. I'm having a problem that has started with iOS17 on my iPhone 14 pro. All my custom text notification sounds, can no longer be applied to additional contact's text alerts. Custom ringtones are fine however. The custom text notification sounds are still listed on the phone as ringtones and I can see them if I try to assign a custom ring tone but if I try to use them for a text notification they aren't listed, only Apple's sounds are listed. I did report the problem to Apple the day after I updated to iOS 17 when I first noticed the issue. In the process of trying to resolve the issue I also managed to loose the use of the previously set up text alerts that had been working under iOS 17 up to that point. Very frustrating but still liking the improvements in the new OS!
