Hidden files transfer

Hi everyone.

so I recently found an old iPod nano which was last synced on a windows laptop, but I am currently using a MacBook. There is data on there that I would like to retrieve using the “disk mode” function. I managed to do this by showing all files and dragging them onto a flash drive.

When I go to transfer them back from the flash drive, it will only transfer the visible files. And you guessed it, some of the files I would like back are the hidden ones!! Is there a way to get them transferred over or are they consigned to being “hidden” only on the flash drive.

thank you

iPod Nano

command-shift-period allows the Finder to see hidden files.

DO NOT DELETE OR MOVE ANY FILES ON THE MAC THAT BECOME VISIBLE IN THE PROCESS. MANY HIDDEN FILES ARE ESSENTIAL FOR MAC OS OPERATION.

Keep in mind documents on your iPod that are tied to music that is ripped are not designed to be retrieved by another device. Those you are better off copying from the computer that ripped them and keeping only on the computer and the backup of that computer that is a regular hard drive or flash drive backup. I have found that as part of copy protection, music sent over to the iDevices has the files stripped apart in an arrangement only known to Apple's programmers and the software on the iDevices pieces the information together for you.

Image Center in the Mac Applications folder can help you recover photos and videos that were created by the iPad.
