What is the Profiles feature, in System Preferences?

In troubleshooting a different issue, I opened the Profiles window found in System Preferences. All I saw there was this one app, which is labeled "unverified". I have no clue whatsoever, what this means, or what is supposed to be found there, and the Apple "help" page about the Profiles was of absolutely no help, as usual. Anyone know something about this? Is this normal, or should I delete the app that's shown (not the actual app, just it being shown in this)?

I still remember when the Apple Help would explain everything we would find in System Preferences.... but it's getting to be only a faint memory...

Ah, OK, I missed the mark...

Use configuration profiles to standardize settings on Mac computers

Configuration profiles let you standardize settings for Mac computers. For example, an administrator can set up profiles that configure Mac computers to interact with servers on a school or workplace network.

A configuration profile can contain settings for a user’s Mail account, Wi-Fi settings, VPN settings, and more. Configuration profiles can work on Mac computers, iOS and iPadOS devices, Apple Watch, and Apple TV.

Your network administrator might provide you with one or several profiles, or provide you with a profile that, once installed, allows your administrator to install additional profiles automatically.

As to why it's there, perhaps that article will have clues for you to sort it out! :)

That thread didn't supply information that helped me understand why this app is in my Profiles folder in System Preferences. And it's not asking me to make any changes. It's just there, says it's "Unverified", and is shown under the heading of "Provisioning". What is it, why is it there, and should I just delete it?
