Importing ICS calendar items to iCalendar

Why can't I email myself appointments from work PC (ICS items) and open them on my iPhone in iCalendar which is my non-work calendar? This is incredibly difficult, and SO FRUSTRATING that if I open it I can see it in iCalendar but my only option is click 'Done' which does not save to iCalendar.

Trying to not have to retype/copy&paste everything.

iPhone 13, iOS 16

Hello Howie1968,

Your employer may have blocked the ability to download those events outside of your work PC. However, you can setup your work email account on your iPhone using the steps here: Set up mail, contacts, and calendar accounts on iPhone - Apple Support that are also below.

"Set up a calendar account

  1. Go to Settings  > Calendar > Accounts > Add Account.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • Choose a service: Tap a service—for example, iCloud or Microsoft Exchange—then enter your account information.
    • Add a calendar account: Tap Other, tap Add CalDAV Account, then enter your server and account information.
    • Subscribe to iCal (.ics) calendars: Tap Other, tap Add Subscribed Calendar, then enter the URL of the .ics file to subscribe to; or import an .ics file from Mail. "

As a friendly reminder, this will only work if your employer allows it.

Best regards.
