iPhone tracking not working

My husband and I have i-phones and tracking each other’s phones worked before but now they do not. I tried everything from turning off and on the devices to adding more data etc but nothing is working. Could there be something I am missing in settings ? I am baffled!

You're welcome.

Hmm.. on your husband's iPhone, go to:

Settings -> Apple ID -> Find.

Is Share My Location enabled?

Also, make sure his iPhone is fully updated. Go to:

Settings > General > Software Update

Just so I'm sure. He can see you but you can't see him?

I can understand that you use "Find Persons" in the Find app, together with your husband.

Start by deleting and adding each other again.

1 Open the Find app on your iPhone

2 Tap "People" in the bottom bar

3 Find your husband and delete him by swiping from right to left.

4 Wait a bit and add him again.

Remember to invite him to his Apple ID email, and remember to select "Always Share" When your husband receives the invitation, accept it and also remember to select "Always Share" on his phone.

Also check that you both have location service activated. Go to:

Settings > Privacy > Location Service > enable.

Also look for Find app in the list below, it must also be enabled.

Nothing. If you have different Apple IDs, that's no problem. But some couples use the same Apple ID and so that would be the answer why it didn't work. But since it has worked before - then it can also be ruled out. I myself share my location with my wife and much of my family, and the only problems I have experienced is that some have had difficulty receiving the invitation to the location sharing - which has often been due to the fact that I have sent the invitation to their mobile number, in instead of their Apple ID email. In addition, I have experienced that some have not had the location service activated - this has been the problem that made us unable to see each other.

But we've tried almost everything possible:

  • You both have Location Service activated
  • You have activated Find in Cellular > Mobile Data
  • Share My Location is activated
  • Find app in Location Service is activated.
  • You have invited yourself from your husband's iPhone, and vice versa.
  • You have restarted both iPhones
  • You have checked that both iPhone's software is up to date.

Last solution would be a complete Factory Restore of both iPhones, or as mentioned earlier, contact Apple Support. They often have some "other options" than those we normal users have.

Has he selected Always Share?

Check if his Location Service is activated. If he is not on WiFi, go to: Settings > Cellular. Look for Find in the list and make sure it is enabled so that he also shares his connection when using Mobile Data.

What can you see on your iPhone, what does your husband's status look like. Is he in Find My, but you just can't see his location - or is he not on the list at all?

Try closing the Find app completely, on both your iPhones, and try restarting them.

Try also deleting each other again, also have your husband request that you follow him.
