You can only update your iPhone 6 Plus to iOS 12.5.7 and nothing further. To answer your quesiton, YES iOS 12 is good for iPhone 6 Plus since you cannot update to newer versions of the iOS.

Why to Update:
Updates include bug fixes and feature releases. Even if discontinued, when a national emergency comes about, Apple will provide updates it to be available to a certain models amount back in time. For instance... When the iPhone 6 was no longer provided updates, COVID hit afterwards, and Apple released an app for keeping an eye out for releases. So, bear that in mind.
