ipod nano shuffle gen 6

First, stop laughing. I love ipods for riding on loud trains. Yes, I realize this makes me a luddite, but it works

I just got what supposed to be an ipod nano shuffle gen 6. One of these:

The previous owner said it was hardly used. The ipod will accept music and I can play it if it's left plugged into either a computer or a usb plug charger

Will the battery completely die and no longer hold a charge if it hasn't been used in years? I can't figure out why it won't hold a charge.

Thanks.

Hello captainjaneway,

Thank you for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. Based on the information you provided, it would be best to have the iPod nano (6th generation) physically inspected by a certified Apple technician. As the iPod nano (6th generation) is obsolete, you can see if there's an Apple Authorized Service Provider available to inspect the battery. Here's the link to locate a list of service providers in your region: Apple Find Locations You'll want to select the country you're based in and follow the prompts from there.

Kind regards.
