VO2 max reading

Has anyone else recently experienced a noteworthy VO2 max reduction for no obvious reason -- .e.g. no change in health (that I am aware of), no change in exercise or diet.

Also, how accurate is the reading? I am a bit suspicious as my drop began just as I started a new decade, which made it easier for me to remain in the "high" category even with my lower reading.

The cardio fitness is age related and the categories average, above average etc will change, I don't know if it is as crude as whole decades. I would expect it to be easier to get better readings (or I should say estimates which is what they really are). The algorithms used are not published AFAIK.

Changing from outdoor runs and walks to more indoor exercise will kill the numbers as indoor does not contribute.

It can also be affected if you have started beta blockers or other heart meds and have registered this.

The only reported sudden drop that I can remember reported recently was due to adding Beta Blockers to health records and is apparently regarded as a bug.

If you didn't make any such changes then I suggest you each out to Apple Support directly. You should be able to reach them here

Thx for your reply. To remain in "high" after crossing a new decade gets easier with an abrupt 4-5 point reduced floor soon after my new decade began. But, my question is in regards to what might cause a fairly abrupt (over ~1 month) reduction in the actual numerical readings with no (known) changes to one's physical condition, diet, medicine, exercise, etc.
