Sidecar issue with iPad Pro 12.9 M1

Have Macbook Pro from 2019 (Intel proc) and iPad Pro M1 and really can't find a way to use my iPad as a second display or do a mirroring from mac ( mirroring works the other way around). The same Wi-Fi network, Bluetooth and handoff enabled on both, the same apple id, latest OS on both devices (Ventura and iPadOS 16.3)...restarted both devices, tried safe mode on mac...I even tried with downgrading MacOS from Ventura to Mojave and gradually upgraded version by version (except Monterey). Nothing helped (sad) Tried mac-to-mac connection and it worked, but mac-to-ipad failed (even tested with Macbook Air M2). Could it be that particular iPad has some hardware issue or it has something to do with iPadOS 16.3 ?

You might consider visiting the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP) - with both your Mac and iPad. Here you will be able to demonstrate the problem to the technicians, who will be able to assist with diagnostics.

If you have a defective iPad, you’ll be in the best possible place to explore your available options.

Otherwise, you can contact the Apple Support Team using the Support link at top-right or bottom-left of this page. Alternatively and perhaps easier, you can initiate and manage your support cases using the excellent Apple Support App. If not already installed, the App can be downloaded from the App Store:

If you are experiencing difficulties with Sidecar, you might instead consider using Duet, arguably better and more flexible than Sidecar - with fewer restrictions. More information can be found at the Developer’s website:

https://www.duetdisplay.com/

Duet Display and Duet Air are supported by Mac and Windows PC:

I've already checked that out and it seems like a good alternative (but still not sure why it's better than sidecar for mac users except the fact it supports portrait orientation). However, the thing here is that I am afraid I bought somehow defective iPad.
