Capital One Shopping Extension/App Using High CPU

It seems the Capital One Shopping App / Extension is using a lot of CPU time on my MB Pro (Big Sur). When I opened my laptop this morning the bottom was warm and the fans were running. Activity monitor showed a Capital One web address using basically 100% of the CPU.

I deleted the Capital One App and the Safari extension and things settled down.

Has anyone seen this problem or know what is going on?

I can live without the app though it has saved me some money in the past.

Update: I went into "safari extensions" in the safari drop down menu and noticed that the Capital One app needed updating. I decided to do that before I deleted it. It updated quickly and the fan stopped immediately. I'll be monitoring it over the next few days but if it starts draining my CPU again, it's gone.

YES! I just discovered this as well. My fan has been running constantly but only when safari is open. I finally checked activity monitor and look what was taking up 100.8% (how that happens I'm not sure) of my CPU time??

Sad to delete the app as it does work nicely for for me but not worth the drain on my MacBook Air.

Thanks for your replies. Please let me know if the updated extension continues to behave. I have a busy week and not planning on buying anything. So won’t be doing anything with the app/extension for a while. Hope it continues to work.
