It won’t let me undo or edit my messages and my phone is updated

You must be aware that in order to Edit or Undo sent messages, it requires that you send messages to someone who has activated iMessages on their iPhone/iPad/Mac. At the same time, those you send to must also be updated to iOS/iPadOS 16 or MacOS Ventura.
Another important detail. After an iMessage is sent, you have 2 minutes to Undo, then the message locks and cannot be withdrawn, and you have 15 minutes to Edit an iMessage.
You cannot use the Undo or Edit function on the normal green SMS messages, only the blue iMessages.
