Is there an easy way to change the ringtone assigned to all existing contacts on iPhone, while keeping the default one different ? I'd like to avoid going through the thousands of contacts I have and change each of them manually.
Something comparable to the "remove duplicates" contacts options on iTunes ?

No. Unfortunately, it is only possible if you choose a ringtone, and add them to each contact, and finally set the main ringtone to play a different sound.
