Find Duplicates doesnt work

I am on Ventura 13.2


Find duplicates is not working... (and to check this I did duplicate a photo using "duplicate photo" and the App still doesn't detect any duplicates


I can't find out how to "force" it?.... there are many duplicates.... same name, etc... but Photos keeps "silent"....


any hints please?

iMac 27″ 5K, macOS 13.2

When you duplicate a photo in Photos a second original file is not created. There's only a pointer to the original "original" and it's used.


The Duplicates folder does no appear until Photos has completed its scan for faces, objects (dogs, cats, cars, tables, chairs, etc.). Additionally if you have a lot of videos it will take even longer as each frame of every video is scanned also.


It took me about a day for a couple of duplicate files to show up in a library that had already finished its initial scan. For patience is a virtue and a must in this situation.
