Hi there!
First, make sure you're signed into Messages and have the app set up:
Use Messages on your Mac - Apple Support.
Next, make sure Text Message Forwarding is enabled:
Forward SMS/MMS text messages from your iPhone to your Mac or iPad - Apple Support.
Finally, verify iCloud Messages is enabled:
Set up iCloud for Messages on all your devices - Apple Support.
