I cannot receive SMS sent to my second number. Any idea about this?

I set up the eSIM card with the carrier on my iPhone SE 3rd gen. Then the eSIM works fine. I put in the pSIM as the second number and got the signal. I can receive calls to my second number. However, I cannot receive SMS sent to my secondary number. Any idea about this?
