Bluetooth pairing of Oticon Hearing Aids with MacBook Pro ?

My hearing aids easily pair with my iPhone but I am struggling to find a way to pair them with my MacBook pro. When I checked this a year ago - the answer was that it was not possible to do so without add on equipment plugged into the computer. If it is so easy for the iPhone, why not for the Mac computer ? The only alternative I have been able to use is to hook up my Bose headphones to the Mac. Thanks for any suggestions.
