Sample rate of external DAC does not change with every hi res file on a playlist on Apple Music

Hello!

apparently since ios 16 came out, im having trouble to play mixed hi res filed with external DAC at their proper sample rate with Music app / Apple Music on my iPhone 13 pro. In other words, when playing a playlist with songs with different sample rates, the output to the DAC will not change every time is supposed to, and continues with the sample rate setting from one of the previous song.

this is observed at the DAC information of the incoming stream, as the Music App shows the expected sample rate for each file when tapping on the Lossless button.

I’m using the lightning to usb camera adaptor, to connect a Cambridge CXN in USB 2.0 mode.

Interestingly, I noticed that when using an old iPhone SE with no additional apps, and iOS15, with the exact same playlist and the same exact adapter and DAC, it does change properly.

Might it be due to some app on my iPhone keeping the audio output open between tracks, so the mixer wont change sample rate as it thinks there is audio?

or is it just a bug?
