Peloton Heart Rate pairing

Hello all. I just bought an Apple Series 8. Never had an Apple Watch before. I'm also a Peloton user. Today I tried to use the Apple Watch with the Peloton Bike for the first time; my goal was to use it as a heart rate monitor and see what else it did. ddsdd

The Apple Watch doesn't connect to the Peloton like other HR monitors. There's no explicit Bluetooth connection. Instead, you install all the apps and adjust all the settings and then when you start a workout, the app pops up. Once you're connected, the heart rate should show up on the Peloton screen. But when I did this, the HR never did appear--just a line where the HR should be. When I checked the watch, I saw (in the Peloton app) the heart icon with a diagonal one through it, indicating some malfunction with measuring the heart rate.

But when I went to the heart rate app on the Apple Watch, I found that the heart rate was displaying correctly there. But for some reason, the Peloton app just wasn't seeing it and so wasn't sending it to the bike as it ought to.

Can anyone tell me what the problem is here?

Thanks,

Jim

Answering my own question, to put it on the record here. Peloton isn't perfect, but in my experience, they do have good, personal support, which is where I got the answer.

Buried fairly deep in the iPhone Health app--and not mentioned by the setup guides I've seen for using your Apple Watch with the Peloton, is a Setting that's turned off by default (or was on my phone). in the iPhone Health app, on the Summary screen and pretty easy to miss, is "Show All Health Data." Click on it then scroll down to Heart Rate. Click on it. Then scroll down to Data Sources & Access. Click on it.

On my phone, Peloton was listed here but toggled off. Toggling it on solves the problem.
