That is correct.

The iPhone 6, released by Apple 8½ years ago, cannot be updated beyond iOS 12.5.7.

That operating system was released by Apple nearly four years ago.

iPhone 6 can only update to iOS 12.5.7

If your Apps require a higher iOS version, you will need a new phone.
