Setting up Apple air tag - Remotely.

I am in New york, my air tag is in Seattle with my spouse. it has never been setup. she doesnt have an apple device. is there any way to associate air tag remotely to my apple account/phone when both devices are so far away from one another?

Family Air Tag We got air tags for our kids & pets. Why is there not an option to have us both connect to the air tag if we are set up as family on all our devices? We would both like to be able to track our dog if lost & if other is out of service range or unable to do at that moment (at work, etc) are you just out of luck?
