Download disappeared from finder (and browser)

My Mom has a Mac mini, with 14.0 software. A while back her downloads folder disappeared from finder, and we can't resurrect it by trying to download something, as that option is no longer on her browser. I've tried a few suggestions online, including trying to resurrect it through settings on my browser (Safari) but to no avail. She doesn't shut the computer down often, but it has been down at least once since the problem showed up, and it is still persisting. Any opinions would be appreciated! Also, I wasn't sure what screenshots would be helpful to include, so I didn't bother. But if a shot of something would be helpful, please advise!

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. If you're not able to see your Download folder, you might want to double check your Finder preferences. While having Finder open, go to the menu bar and select Finder > Preferences > Sidebar. In this section, make sure that Downloads is selected. This will make your Download folder accessible from the sidebar when using Finder.

Another step you can try is to have Finder open and press the following keys at the same time:

Command + Shift + H

This shortcut will open the Home folder. Your Home folder should include your Download folder as well.
