Can I trade in my iPhone with payments still due?

I currently own an iPhone 13 Pro Max that I bought through AT&T. I still have several months on my installment plan. My phone has suffered some damage and I would like to trade it in through Apple for the iPhone 14 Pro. I plan on buying this new phone outright (subtracting the value of the trade in). Can I complete this trade in and still pay off the rest of my installments to AT&T on the iPhone 13 Pro Max for the remainder of the plan?

Not having your phone paid off isn't the issue, having a damaged phone is. Apple will not give you any trade in value on a damaged phone.

If there is any damage on the phone you want to trade in, it is worth nothing if it is damaged.

So I am able to go through the process I laid out? I don’t want to buy this new phone in full and be told I can’t use it because I still haven’t paid off my old one.
