iPhone logs out of apps

Recently my iPhone (12 mini) has started to log out of apps (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Whatsapp). They are mainly social media apps and logging in and out of Instagram is not a big deal. However, when I get logged out of my Whatsapp, I have to re-enter my phone number and lose my chat history if I have not backed up my chat history recently. I have updated my WhatsApp settings to make sure that a backup is made everyday, but this is not happening and my settings are also not saved, so sometimes it says that my WhatsApp never automatically makes a back up. WhatsApp is mainly my issue as I miss notifications due to this happening. It is happening multiple times a day (at least five times) and around two times a month. As other apps are also logging out I assume this is a problem with my iPhone and not with the apps itself. I have already updated my phone and apps but it keeps on happening.

Hi inez148,

It's notable that the apps in question are all from third-party developers. As such, the steps from If an app on your iPhone or iPad stops responding, closes unexpectedly, or won’t open may be of benefit:

  1. Close and reopen the app

Force the app to close. Then open the app to see if it works as expected.

2. Restart your device

Restart your iPhone or restart your iPad. Then open the app to see if it works as expected.

3. Check for updates

To see if updates are available for the app, open the App Store, tap your profile icon, then scroll down to see if updates are available. If updates aren't available for the app, update the software on your iPhone or iPad.

4. Delete the app, then redownload it

Delete the app. When you do this, you might lose data that was stored in the app. Then redownload the app. Then check to see if the problem with the app is fixed."

Another point to consider is you mention this began recently for multiple apps. Does your device have sufficient available storage according to Settings - General - About to prevent these apps from being offloaded? Have you installed any new apps, configuration profiles, or made other changes that may correlate with the time this behavior began? Are you able to isolate how often it is occurring to identify what might be trigging those changes?

Regards.
