Creating fractions in text or pages

I’ve seen a lot of info regarding how to get your iPhone or iPad to change a typed fraction to the icon equivalent- much nicer, and I have done that for the common fractions. However, carpenters use fractions such as 1/16, 3/16, 5/16, 7/16 and 9/16, as well as the n/32 series. The info on setting your phone or pad to auto change the fractions works great for ⅜, but doesn’t work for 3/16 or 3/32. Where can I find (or make) the appropriate icon equivalents for the n/16 and n/32 series, and ideally n/64 series as well?

Hi. I discovered something this afternoon. Check out “Sample equations” toward the bottom here. Notice what the fractions shown there look like. Maybe that will satisfy what you’re trying to do!

Thanks sberman,

As I said above I have seen lots of info on how to do this, and have done it for the standard fractions. Pages does not contain the fractions for the n/16 and n/32 series, so this technique does not work for those fractions. Do you know where I might find the symbols for those fraction series?

I believe the Unicode characters are relevant here.

Items like 1/32 and 1/16 are not defined as Unicode characters, but ⅒ and ⅑ are. So I believe your desired result is impossible to achieve.

sberman, I think you might be correct that LaTex and/or MathML might be the way to generate the fractions beyond what is contained in Unicode. However, I can’t figure out how to use the calls - all I have is Pages, Word and textedit. Can you point me to a how-to on using LaTex in Pages? I just end up with the same text, not the generated math results or equations as in the examples.
