Silent mode is when you flip the switch on the Left Side of your iPhone to silent mode (Red color showing). Once you have does so and the iPhone still rings then it may be because you may have set that contact as your emergency contact.

Does the iPhone ring no matter who calls or does it only ring for one particular contact?
