Putting secret pictures in Files vs hidden folder

Would someone please explain what the advantage is to saving pics secret pics in Files?

I started to do this until I learned about the hidden album trick under pictures in settings.

Files is such a cumbersome and not so user-friendly app. After discovering the hidden pics Feature, I have totally gone away from files except for documents. Everything super private, I now keep in the hidden folder. not only is it in the app design for pictures, but you have all the features of the pictures app.

Secondary question, under pictures in settings, it says that the hidden album is actually named Utilities in pictures. This, of course is a great idea because it doesn’t say hidden. However, the folder, no matter what you do is not called utilities as the stated in settings it continues to be called hidden; this may be a source of questions by anyone looking at your pictures on your phone. And we know where there are questions people expect answers (“ what does it mean by hidden”). I don’t ever want that question to come up so the name utilities as as advertised is a great idea it’s obscure enough or nobody’s going to wonder yet you know it’s there. And only very well informed iPhone users are aware at this point of the hidden album feature , Does anyone know if this is a known issue? I would really appreciate it if this were corrected to jive with the settings button explanation. It’s not very hidden if it’s called. “hidden”

Thanks in advance

Hello,

I am not aware of a way to hide a folder in the Files App. You can hide a Location from the browse view such as On My iPhone, iCloud Drive, or another could storage service but not not Folders in those locations (that I know of).

That being said, I believe a file or folder in a location hidden from the browse view could still show up when searching on your iPhone or be suggested by Siri.

"Secondary question, under pictures in settings, it says that the hidden album is actually named Utilities in pictures"

The settings actually say the Hidden Album will show in the Utilities section. Not that the album will be named Utilities. I agree that the ability to custom name the Hidden Album would be great for user privacy so I suggest you submit feedback to Apple requesting this. I will also submit feedback about that.
