AppleTV 4K crashes my Sony Bravia smart TV

I recently bought an Apple TV 4K device to use with my Sony XF9005 TV. It works fine for the most part -- I can watch content just fine, I can change the volume on the TV with the Siri remote etc.

However, once per day the TV completely crashes and becomes unresponsive (it won't even respond to the Sony remote anymore) and the only solution is to to a hard reset by unplugging the power chord.

This has never happened before and is definitely due to the connected Apple TV device.

When I restart the TV, it responds properly and I can turn it on and off with the Siri remote -- but when I get back to it the next day it's crashed again and I have to cycle the power again.

I have found at least some instances of this when searching online but sadly no one posted any solutions so far.

Any ideas?
