This document has a list of things to do if your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch is lost or stolen. --> If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch is lost or stolen - Apple Support

- The Find My service is the only recovery feature Apple offers.

If Find My iPhone is offline or not working' click on the link to get help when you don't see your device listed, or you see an unexpected device or an alert that says your device is offline. --> If Find My is offline or not working - Apple Support

Troubleshooting a Lost or Stollen iPhone:

If Find my is not an option...

Fixe Tactics here:

  • Dial it: See if it is heard ring

  • Ask Local Authorities: See if it has be hanged over.

  • Text It: Ask whomever has come across it, to contact you.

  • Ask Someone: See if someone you know (i.e. Friend, or Family Member) if that came across it.

  • Backtrack your Locations: If you are at a Coffee shop, or a library, stop by and see if it was safely placed asside.

Assuming you enabled Find My on the phone before it was lost.....

The phone will not appear on the Find My map if it is powered off, the battery has run down or it does not have an Internet connection where it is located.

Sometimes a "Last Known Location" will appear, but this is temporary.

Really nothing that you can do about this other than keep trying to see if the phone will appear again.

its not on the list

You probably fell for a common phishing scam: You got a text or email from “Apple” or “Apple Security” (or sometimes “Police”) saying your phone has been found and to click on a link to see its location. This is NEVER from Apple or from law enforcement; it is from the thief or fence to steal your Apple ID and identity. Delete any such message without responding to it. Apple never gets involved in lost or stolen devices→Avoid phishing emails, fake ‘virus‘ alerts, phony support calls, and other scams

The message from Apple is legit.

Someone who knew your Apple ID and Password logged on and removed your iPhone from Find My. That is the only way that a device can be removed from Find My.

You need to change your Apple ID immediately. The thief now has access to other devices that you listed on Find My.

The phone is gone.
