How do I re-merge AAE file with JPG

Can anyone help please?

When moving a marked-up JPGs from my iPad to a work PC, the file split into two - the original JPG and the associated AAE file. I realise my mistake but cannot return the files to iPad Photo so the associated files can be read together again - the IOS system does not allow.

How can the files be re-merged so I can view my notes? All the data is still there, I just need to re-merge the files.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

An AAE file is a record of the edits a user has made to an image in the iOS version of Apple Photos. It is used to non-destructively transfer edits from iOS to another computer - so a user can revert their image to its original form if needed. AAE files are stored alongside the images whose edits they contain.

If you have deleted the original image from your iPad, you’ll not be able to recover the original image on the iPad.
