iPhone 14 Battery Draining after update

I went for my appointment at most local Apple Store. They said the hardware diagnostic was fine- they reset the phone and basically said it could have been a weird issue with an app that may not have closed. Really nothing showing in the hardware; said to record any future issues and then it will have to be dug into as far as software. I’m satisfied with their service and will go back should it have continuing problems with battery drain

Update your iOS to 16.6

I feel relieved. It has definitely fixed all the issue with battery draining along with overheating. They should have done it long ago, before my battery capacity being dropped to 95% in just 9 months. All that 9 months would have been saved by sticking to 100% battery capacity just like my wife’s 14 Pro since mine is 14 ProMax and a lot of people who had been facing with battery drain issue has been 14 ProMax.

My 13 pro max (1.5 yrs iold) is now down to 88% battery health. Since Apple recommends replacing battery when it’s below 80%, I only have 8% battery life left. The bal due on cost of this iPhone will outlive its health. Not a good look Apple.

On average, a battery will lose capacity at approximately 1% a month. So, you are seeing performance within expected parameters. Batteries are consumables.

I have visited Apple twice regarding the battery issue with my iPhone 14 Pro. The first time, they suggested that the problem might be with my charger and recommended I buy a 20W block. I followed their advice and purchased the new charger, but it didn't improve the battery life.

Feeling frustrated, I went to a different Apple location a few days later, and they thought it could be a software-related problem. They had me perform a hard reset on my phone and set it up as new, hoping it would resolve the issue. However, even after trying this, the battery continues to drain rapidly. In just under 5 minutes, my phone's battery goes down by 3%.

I requested a battery replacement, but Apple refused, claiming that my battery health is still at 100%. Nonetheless, I am convinced that the battery is faulty, especially because I never encountered such problems with any of the 12 iPhones I owned in the past.

I'm unsure of what to do next, as I've exhausted the troubleshooting steps suggested by Apple. I want to find a solution to this battery drain problem as soon as possible.

Ken I had exact same problem as you if you read my replies from earlier I mentioned the camera module getting replaced as Apple did a test on the phone and found camera module was failing so they repaired it and my phones as good as new again. explain you’ve did all reset stuff etc and got rid of apps and updated to latest iOS before you go. and demand they run a diagnostic test as it’s their problem to sort the components that fail and is their duty to solve the issue. I was doubtful when they mentioned the camera module as I wondered how can that drain my battery but once they repaired the module my battery life Is as good as when it was new hope that helps and get to bottom of it. Cheers mention the camera module as they may not be aware of it or don’t want to be aware of it mines got repaired for free as it was under warranty period but I believe cost to repair on receipt was approx £182

Factory Reset worked for me. That's what Apple does when replacing internal components. The technicon has to do a full backup before working on your phone. After replacing the camera module a factory reset was done followed by the restore.

The camera module may not have been the cause of battery drain.

Who knows what battery drain was then but I did a factory reset myself before going to Apple and the battery was dying overnight when asleep. But Apple changed my battery module and it worked for me. At the end of the day I’m happy mines is sorted. After all my phone is coming up for 12 months old and battery is still 100% capacity after module repair

Yes your right some things work some things don’t some things they don’t want to tell us either just like the battery draining scandal a few years ago they didn’t want us to know they were playing funny games with that also and we all ended up with new batteries with that fiasco

There was no "battery-draining scandal". The issue was that, in order to prevent phones with already failing batteries from shutting off abruptly, depriving users of a phone they might need in an emergency, Apple throttled those phones with older batteries. Apple's big failure, what they got in all the trouble for, was in not communicating this more clearly. In response, Apple lowered the price of replacement batteries for a couple of years and refunded people who paid above that amount. Did Apple make a mistake? Yes. Were they doing something bad to people's batteries? No. Does what really happened make a much less exciting story? Absolutely.

Suppose we will never know the truth will we. At end of the day they rectified it and I got a new battery and another 2 yrs out my phone 😄and I can’t fault Apple for their service for dealing with my phone problems over the years.

Apple has sold millions of the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max models. That was almost a year ago. How do you know "almost every" one of them is having a battery-draining issue? Please cite a source for data to back that assertion.

iPhones need to carry out a number of tasks in the background in the aftermath of an update. This consumes more battery power than usual, and the battery life will return to normal once all these extra tasks have been completed.Try a reboot and see if that helps.
