How do you transfer tunes to the iPad mini? When I open it up iPhoto opens not iTunes.

I want to load music onto my iPad mini 6th Gen. When I plug it in to my iMac iPhoto opens not iTunes. How do I connect with iTunes?

You should see an option to stop opening Photos automatically when your iPad is connected, in the left above corner of the photo app, when your iPad is connected to Photos.

If this does not help because the option is not selected, connect your iPad, open the Image Capture program on your Mac, select your iPad in the sidebar and choose in the "connecting this device" section -> "No application"

After that you can sync to iTunes as usual:

Thank you for you suggestions but they did not work.

1 - there is no option to stop opening photos automatically in Photos when my iPad Mini is connected

2 - Image Capture does not show my iPad in the sidebar for me to be able to choose "connecting this device"->

"No application"

I've checked my cables and they all seem fine but my iPad mini is not showing up in iTunes as an option for anything. I have several backups from other devices I've used so I'm not a novice at this sort of thing. I'm concerned that the USB-c port on my new iPad mini is somehow preventing the USB port on my iMac (24-inch, Early 2009) from syncing with it. Any other ideas? I appreciate your help.
