iTunes Login

iTunes would not allow me to quit and it had not shut down properly. I logged out and tried to sign back in and it doesn't do anything... no error messages. The icon shows a dot under it on the screen which I believe means it is still active. I am basically dead in the water with iTunes. How can is fix this issue?

Restart your computer, but don't let it reopen windows. Press and hold down option+cmd when launching iTunes after the restart so that it opens in its safe mode.
