Screen orientation wrong in WhatsApp when using an external monitor

I decided to send the image from my iphone to my computer screen. Using a special lightening to HDMI cable, this works. the orientation on my screen matches my phone when I rotate it.

However, when I am using WhatsApp in the same phone, the orientation on the screen no longer matches that of my phone? Is there a fix for this? This seems to be something to do with WhatsApp and not the phone/monitor/cable.

Hey there jellow44,

You mentioned this within WhatsApp, but you have no issues when rotating the Home Screen. It's worth of note that not all apps support rotation. This detail and more can be found in this link: Rotate the screen on your iPhone or iPod touch

With the above in mind, we'd like to help rule out some other possible causes, along with confirming more details to better understand what's happening:

  1. Does this issue occur even when you disconnect your iPhone from your computer screen?
  2. Sometimes unexpected behavior can be resolved with a restart: Restart your iPhone
  3. The latest for your model is iOS 15.7.3. You can verify this within Settings > General > About. In case you needed it, this link shows how to first back up, then Update your iPhone or iPad.
  4. We also recommend making sure that all apps are up to date: How to manually update apps on your Apple device
  5. Have you reached out to WhatsApp to confirm if their app supports rotation?

Cheers!
