Genius results can't be updated right now. An unknown error occurred (0x80090302)

I’m trying to update my iCloud music library so that I can access all my songs from all my devices. When I click on iTunes and preferences and click on iCloud music library, I get a message saying genius results can’t be updated right now. An unknown error occurred. I’ve been trying this for a few weeks and I keep getting the same message. Thanks.

This appears to be an issue for those running an older build of iTunes on Windows 7 or 8. It may be time to upgrade to Windows 10. See https://www.zdnet.com/article/heres-how-you-can-still-get-a-free-windows-10-upgrade/.

i am also facing the same issue last time when it was working was on feb 5. So I recently contact apple customer services they told me they have ended support for window 7,8 for syncing of cloud and told me to basically upgrade to window 10,11

I have had this exact problem for the last year and have come to the conclusion that the old PC I have been using to ad CD’s to iTunes Match is now just too old to work.

I have bought an Apple USB SuperDrive and I am trying to figure out what Apple laptop I should buy buy to enable me to add CD’s again?

I could do with some advice, if I wanted to buy an old Apple laptop on eBay to use with my new Apple USB SuperDrive, just to add CD’s to iTunes Match, which model laptop would make the most sense both economically and in terms of functionality?

I’d like for this system to be relatively future proofed but can’t really afford a new MacBook just to add old CD’s to iTunes Match.

Apple seem to be actively supporting three releases of macOS. If the machine you buy isn't capable of running at least Big Sur then you will fall behind very quickly.
