Just got a new iPhone 14 pro and the gaming performance is awful

This is my first iPhone since the iPhone 5, so I don’t know if this is normal for newer devices. But the performance in most games, 2D and 3D, are filled with stuttering and framedrops. Strange thing is, it’s only playing the game using a touch screen, if I use a controller, performance is perfect.

This is very evident in the game Mario Kart Tour, I used to play that a lot at 60fps, but on the iPhone 14 pro, it’s dropping frames like crazy BUT ONLY WHEN TOUCHING THE SCREEN. Are all iOS devices like this?

I’ve tried restoring my device, hard resetting, disabling a bunch of settings but it made no difference.
