How to anchor synchronized clips to a sound track during editing on Final Cut Pro 10.15!

I mostly make music video, so I need to synchronize my clips to the sound track, but then, after all that work, if for some reason something moving while bringing footage down to assemble the final video, the sound track moves and I have to start all over again! This happens especially when a cut clip creates blue lines above it and seems to be anchored to the clips above or, if it is before the beginning of the sound track, it moves it when I try to attack it to the first clip! Does anyone know what those lines are for and why they appear out of nowhere, only one some clips?

  • Another question, on my first video Range Selection worked fine and I used it a lot, this time around, I can start it and extend it to one clip but then if I have bit cut and want to select them all, it does not extend. Am I doing something wrong? Why did it work perfectly on the first video?
  • In order not to upset synchronized clips in the timeline, if I want to bring a bit of a clip down can I copy and paste it, instead of trying to bring it down through the other timelines? For example, if I have three synchronized version, and am assembling the video on the timeline and want to bring a bit that is on the third one down without upsetting the synchronization, copying and pasting would be ideal.
  • Is it possible to save my work before exiting the project? The other day when I opened it the next day nothing had been saved automatically and hours of work were lost!

Thanks Tom, I don't think that you will see on a screenshot what I mean.... as far as my main question goes, I have the timeline with a lot of small clips and under it the sound track. As I cut bits and add others, and add transitions, sometimes the whole row of clips moves around, so the synchronization is lost. My question was, isn't there a way to glue together, so to speak, the synchronized clips on the timeline and the sound track, so that I can then make changes without ever losing the sync?

Thanks Tom, we put the clips on the storyline and the audio under it. It seems to work well, if it wasn't for the fact that sometimes it all moves and the sync is gone. Can one actually put the audio in the storyline? And I suppose then one would assemble the video on the track above that? We can send you a screen shot of our latest video to show you how we do it. Then above that we put the rest of the footage, first the full sung version of the song and above that general footage.
