Is there something wrong with Apple Pay for Macs using Safari on websites?

I'm using safari on Mac OS Ventura 13.2.1 and Apple Pay isn't working. on every site I've tried, I click on the Apple Pay logo on the site and nothing happens. I can use a credit card to pay, but the Apple Pay button doesn't start the process. I have wallet turned on, but I am not able to find any site that the Apple Pay button triggers a transaction. it works fine on my iPhone 13 Pro Max and my iPad Pro. My watch is connected to the iMac and is working to allow me to sign in to grab passwords, etc. What is going on? this is a 2017 iMac 27" 5K retina model running the latest MacOS software.
